The drive to Noravank feels like entering another world. The cliffs narrow into a canyon of burning red, their layers striated like the pages of time. At its heart, the 13th-century monastery perches on a ledge, its pale stone glowing against the rust-coloured rock. You climb the narrow stairway carved into the façade, sunlight catching on khachkars—intricately carved stone crosses that pattern the walls. Inside, silence reigns. Frescoes of saints and vines spiral across the dome, and shafts of light pour through small windows like blessings. Outside, the wind carries the cry of eagles.
